2017 The Upgrade, Extension, and Maintenance of the Environmental Education Training System

Absrtact
To effectively manage courses, hold examinations, and provide information on relevant courses, the Environmental Professionals Training Institute (EPTI) under Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan (EPA) launched the Education Training System (EETS) in 2014 and completed the system in 2016. The EETS not only allows users to manage lectures, workshops, training courses, and examinations, but also provides an online platform for users to easily share and exchange information. This has reduced the time to repetitively upload the same data to different systems, as users are only required to upload once and all can access to the data and e-resources. Managing environmental education programs have also become easier. In 2017, regarding the requirements proposed by the EPTI, new functions were developed to manage the subsidies given to environmental education institutes. The new functions can automatically filter the qualified applicants and the amount of subsidies, and generate documents for verification. Additionally, users can optimize the records of class attendance, and bolster the interface for filling satisfaction levels. Furthermore, users can check the progress on granting certifications. With the new functions, the overall course management has become more complete. A subsystem was developed to manage training materials. This subsystem allows users to upload training materials and manage them online. For instance, users can decide who has the authority to use and download the materials. A feedback mechanism was also built so that EPTI can collect feedback regarding the training materials. Additionally, the online questionnaire subsystem was extended so as to strengthen the questionnaires’ question bank, the sorting of questionnaires, and the export of statistical reports. This year, the project has also focused on optimizing functions such as grade checkers, and exporting exam papers into printable files. Users can input grades and view test takers’ learning profiles on the same page, which has effectively reduced the time to find and organize data. Also, users can easily import and export exam papers as word files. This creates a more user-friendly interface as users can easily edit files on the system. More functions are also set to extend the management of examinations, including the establishment of an online registration system. Users can easily find the test-takers’ profiles in order to raise the efficiency in test registrations. In preparation for examinations, users can easily export exam papers and print them, which have largely increased the efficiency in preparatory works. An “Assistant” was also developed to help users. The Assistant serves as a reminder that periodically reports the progress reports of all work items. This allows users to effectively manage and supervise all works. In addition, users can use the existing data and generate statistical reports, including charts and tables. Users can quickly utilize the statistical reports. Moreover, the search engine for finding reports was modified to create a more user-friendly interface. Users can find reports by utilizing advanced search, which has boosted the efficiency in data search and application.
